Kiambethu Tea Farm is located in Limuru which is just a short, beautiful drive from the heart of Nairobi. This was the original home of AB McDonell who was the first person to make and sell tea commercially in the country Kenya. It provides a calm insight into life on a settler farm. The farm settles 7200 feet high up surrounded by beautiful gardens, acres of tea and indigenous forest. Lunch is served on the rolling lawns bordering herbaceous beds, under umbrellas overlooking the tea fields and sweeping the views of Ngong Hills. It is also a home to the Colobus monkey and plenty of other wildlife. Later you will be transferred to your Nairobi hotel for overnight stay. is open from Thursday to Sunday from 11 am.
Tour Details
Pickup at your hotel at 9:00 am and start the drive to Limuru arriving in Mid morning hours and you will be guided through the farm and get to learn the farms’ history your local guides will explain the tea Making process as you explore the tea fields. Followed by a walk to one of the indigenous forests where you will get to learn more about different wild plans and their traditional medicinal values as well as spot different bird species in the forest Colobus monkeys are also common here. Enjoy a picnic lunch followed by a transfer back to Nairobi city.
