Important Things to Note About This Tour

Please note our main pick-up points include Moshi Town, Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO), and Arusha Airport. (ARK)

You will spend up to five hours of game drive in the park departing the park before 4:00 pm.

  • A Pop-up Roof: The Safari vehicles are fitted with a pop-up roof that can be elevated to give passengers a higher vantage point for better wildlife observation and photography.
  • Storage Space: There is typically ample storage space at the back of the vehicles for camera gear, binoculars, and personal belongings.
  • Safety Features: Vehicles are equipped with safety features such as seat belts and first aid kits, ensuring a safe and enjoyable safari experience.

The area around Lake Manyara was utilized for sports hunting from the 1920s.

It was designated as a game reserve in 1957, upgraded to National Park status in 1960, and expanded in 1974 with an additional 550 ha (1,400 acres) at its southern end. The park mostly consists of a narrow strip running between the western Gregory Rift wall and the eastern alkaline Lake Manyara, covering the northwest quadrant of the lake, totaling about 200 km2 (77 sq mi). It forms part of the larger Lake Manyara Biosphere Reserve, established by UNESCO in 1981 under its Man and the Biosphere Programme.

Lake Manyara’s climate features two rainy seasons: the “short rains” from November to December and the “long rains” from March to May.

April receives the highest rainfall and the most rainy days Conversely, July, August, and September are the driest months, with minimal rainfall. The warmest months, with the highest average high temperature of 30 °C (86 °F), are January, February, and March.
