Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Ndutu – The Adventure Begins
After breakfast in Arusha, board your scenic flight to the Ndutu Airstrip. As you descend, the vast expanse of the southern Serengeti unfolds below — dotted with acacia trees and herds of grazing animals. Upon arrival, your Amet Adventures naturalist guide will meet you for a short transfer to Nasikia Ndutu Migration Camp.
Enjoy a warm welcome and settle into your comfortable tent before sitting down for lunch overlooking the plains. The sounds of the wild set the tone for your first day in this remarkable landscape.
In the afternoon, set out on your first game drive. The Ndutu region, rich in both grasslands and woodlands, is the centre of the Great Migration during the calving season. Between December and March, thousands of wildebeest gather here to give birth, attracting predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. As the sun begins to set, the plains glow gold, and the evening air fills with the calls of wildlife.
Return to Nasikia Mobile Migration camp for sundowners by the fire and a delicious dinner beneath a canopy of stars. Spend your first night surrounded by the sounds of the African night at Nasikia Ndutu Migration Camp.
Day 2 and 3: Full Days in the Heart of the Calving Season
Wake before dawn to the soft sounds of the bush and set out for an early morning game drives. The first light of day offers the best chance to witness predators on the move and newborn wildebeest calves taking their first steps. The calving season is one of nature’s most powerful spectacles — over half a million calves are born here within a few short weeks, drawing a stunning concentration of wildlife.
After an eventful morning, enjoy a bush breakfast in a scenic spot surrounded by grazing herds. Continue your exploration across the Ndutu plains and into the southern Serengeti or Ngorongoro Conservation Area, following the movements of the migration. Your Amet Adventures guide will interpret animal behaviour, explain the ecology of the region, and ensure you capture the best possible moments for photography.
Return to camp for lunch and a brief rest during the warm hours of the afternoon. Later, venture out again for another game drive, focusing on tracking the region’s famous big cats — lions lounging in the shade, cheetahs scanning the plains, and perhaps even a leopard resting in an acacia tree.
As evening falls, return to camp to relax by the campfire and share stories of the day’s adventures. Dinner is served under the stars, accompanied by the distant calls of hyenas and the rustle of nocturnal creatures beginning their night.
Overnight at Nasikia Ndutu Migration Camp.
Day 4: Farewell to the Plains – Fly Back to Arusha
On your final morning in Ndutu, set out on one last game drive to soak in the tranquillity and beauty of the plains at sunrise. It’s a peaceful yet thrilling time to observe the wildlife as the herds graze and the predators begin to stir.
Return to camp for a hearty breakfast and some time to relax before departure. Later in the morning, your guide will transfer you to Ndutu Airstrip for your flight back to Arusha. As you take off, look down at the shimmering plains — a landscape that has gifted you a truly unforgettable experience.
Your safari with Amet Adventures ends on arrival in Arusha, carrying with you lasting memories of the Great Migration and the calving season of Ndutu.
